My B.E.T Award Show 2017 Review (Not A Fan)

It's A Celeb Thing

June 25th, 2017 the B.E.T Awards happen! As we all know it is a celebration of the African American culture! Sound great right? Right. Honestly, it wasn’t all of that and hasn’t been for a while. I just watch for the Black Twitter Family Reunion I’m the cousin who drives his own car just in case things get outta hand so I can leave at a moments notice. Let’s get into this review! The whole show to me just wasn’t hitting on much…well honestly when was the last time it hit on something? 6.5 out of 10 rating.

Opening show by Bruno Mars with the ‘Hooligan’ jersey gave me some hope that the show would be something serious! He literally showed up and showed out! Start up was pretty strong until the host comedienne Leslie Jones came on stage and things went left! Not saying she wasn’t funny but her jokes are so comic view way back in the day. Everything just seemed tired and forced and could’ve been better.

My favorite performance would have to be……the Georgia-based music group Migos who took home the first award of the night for ‘Best Group’ along with they won ‘Best Collaboration’ for ‘Bad and Boujee’, which featured who I think is cool dressed Lil Uzi Vert. Even though all performances were fairly decent and awkward (Trey Songz) at times I dealt with em. Aside from the New Edition tribute that was something serious also. Honestly, the ‘Best Group’ award was a given due to the other groups were either artist who came together to make some music/album or groups we haven’t heard from a while within mainstream which for some reason B.E.T loves to do! Speaking of categories some of them didn’t make sense…..especially ONE very special one to me but I will get there in a moment.

Chance the Rapper won ‘Best New Artist’ and had an amazing speech due to him being awarded the ‘Humanitarian Award’ which he is the youngest recipient of ever to win the award! GO CHANCE!

“To be receiving something like this, at my age, it feels good as hell. It feels a little early to get something like this, but my God doesn’t make mistakes,” he said with much joy. “I like to think he’s putting enormous pressure on me to see how I react.” – Chance

He also touched on some political stuff that I was truly living for:

“I had plans, originally, to try and tell the world, and everybody watching, how they can make it a better place. To tell everybody in this government that y’all need to let everybody out of jail for selling weed before y’all start making it legal for people to sell and make capital off it,” he said. “I was going to tell the Chicago Public School system not to take out a loan from Chase Bank when they know that our schools are planning on failing in our district. I was going to tell those judges that we just need a conviction when you know these niggas is wrong for doing this.”

The live Xscape reunion was a nice little throwback even though that is not my generation I still know a little something something. *Does two step* Overall, the show was decent and kinda sorta in order!

NOW! I need to discuss this ‘Best Female Hip-Hop Artist’ award. Yes, I am a Nicki Minaj fan but this does not skew my mind on the matter. Overall, Remy Ma did not deserve that award not even a little bit. Yes, she ended Nicki Minaj seven-year streak but Nicki deserved every single one. Don’t @ me! Yes, Remy had a lot of issues going on positive and negative with her career along with personal life but I feel as though B.E.T knew that and handed her a sympathy award! “Aw boo you did something since you got out and Nicki not here so……here you go” that is what I think happen when the picks happen. Does she deserve a round of applause? Yes, she does and I gave her that when her and Fat Joe made that little song. Now as for this:

“Y’all b*tches got fat while we starved. Shots in your ass, pads in your bras. Y’all some liars; it ain’t no facts in your songs. And, yeah, that crown is coming back to the Bronx.” – Remy Ma (Spaghetti)

You can’t talk mess when the video you released months ago has a smaller amount of views then your “competitor” who’s video was released months and has surpassed your views tremendously! I’m sorry you just can’t do it! Yes, Remy can rap! But her time has passed due to her being locked up….bad things happen to good people but time goes on! All the artist that Remy was with during her time had their hits and have pressed on with life. She needs to do the same….not saying she can’t make music. But the music beef….DEAD IT!!! That’s just me! But I dig her music from back in the day from time to time. Oh and Nicki wasn’t there but you…..oh ok.

The VMA Mess Has Sunk In (For Me) #ClapBackSeason

Uncategorized

Now I know it has been a few days since the Video Music Awards but I still have to give my opinion. I am a college kid so I stay busy….BUT HERE I GO!!!

First let me start with Miley Cyrus who was the host. I mean no harm and I do not mean to offend anyone or her but….I DID NOT ENJOY HER AS A HOST!!! Now as a person miley-cyrus-vmas-inline[1]she is great and her music I do enjoy but as a host not so much. I mean let’s be serious we know Miley as a Disney star gone wrong in almost a positive way as if she branded herself into a new person even though we know where she started…Hannah Montana. Now her performance to me was kind of expected. I knew it was going to be something outrageous so that was nothing new to me. But overall she is cool but as a host she….IS NOT!!!

Kanye West is running for president in 2020. Along with him announcing that he also pretty much bashed MTV for flawing his image with the whole him getting on stage and stealing Taylor Swift’s shine. Now him running for president sounds pretty cool to watch if he really does because…What political party will he be tied to?kanye-prez[1]

Rapper Nicki Minaj and singer Taylor Swift made up after their little Twitter beef or whatever you want to call it going on as they performed together. Which was fun to watch nothing special there.

Now time for the biggest thing that happen….NICKI MINAJ WHEN SHE FLAMED MILEY CYRUS FOR RUNNING THAT MOUTH!!! I laughed for one whole hour and kept replaying it because Miley did not know how to reply back to Nicki. Now if you did not know what Miley said before the VMA’s she said to a New York Times reporter:

“People forget that the choices that they make and how they treat people in life affect you in a really big way. If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it. […] If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.I know you can make it seem like, ‘Oh I just don’t understand because I’m a white pop star. I know the statistics. I know what’s going on in the world… But to be honest, I don’t think MTV did that on purpose. What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about.”

So of course with that Nicki Minaj felt the need to address it on the VMA’s with her acceptance for winning best hip-hop for “Anaconda.” Everyone was thanked including her pastor and then she said:

“And now back to this b— that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press,” Minaj snapped. “Miley, what’s good?!”

After those words parted her lips #ClapBackSeason began. Miley replied back by saying:

“Hey, we’re all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s—,” she replied. “Nicki, congratulations.”

With Cyrus saying that her mic has already been cut off and she was saying:

“Don’t play with me, b—- …don’t play with me.”

Real or fake it made my night.

FEELING MYSELF BY NICKI MINAJ (FEAT. BEYONCE) IT IS HAS BEEN RELEASED!! LIFE HAS BEEN GIVEN!!!

It has arrived the video that we have all waited on for so long. Just a couple of minutes ago rapper Nicki Minaj posted video clips and some pictures of the new video “Feeling Myself” featuring no other than The Queen Bee herself…BEYONCE!!! Now the video and song is them pretty much bragging on themselves which there is nothing wrong with if you ask me I mean they have a lot to brag about. Now here is the catch for the whole music video….ready….get ready….YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MEMBERSHIP THROUGH TIDAL TO WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO!!! So little bloggers like me can’t get to it unless I pay up some money. Tidal is a new music streaming service created by Jay-Z (Wifey was looking out) so it is comparable to Spotify and Youtube. On the flip side both artist are part of the huge A-List of folks who have partnered in with Jay-Z for Tidal. Some of the reactions to it where quite funny to me. Here are a few…

As you see some fans were not too excited about being almost lured to buying a subscription. I am just waiting on either artist or some kid to leak the video to the general public for all of us to see or put on Tumblr. Now on to some of the fashions within the video Nicki Minaj is wearing Moschino and Discount Universe. Beyonce is wearing some Off White  now for the only looks no designers have stepped up yet but I will be looking. Overall the video from what I have seen will most likely be noted in music video as a simply great video.

Nicki Minaj Addresses DJ Khaled Proposal, Relationship With Drake, Twerking & More With Funk Flex

Uncategorized

So Nicki Minaj called up to Hot 97 with FunkMaster Flex on July 31, 2013 and talked about the DJ Khaled’s proposal (it was a joke) , twerking, a bit about Drake and a rumored fall out with Young Money, and some new business ventures. She had to put some things to rest and brand herself like she has been doing. This is coming after the new song by DJ Khaled featuring Nicki Minaj & Rick Ross being released. (Video Source: Hot97)

DJ Khaled – I Wanna Be With You (ft. Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross & Future)

Uncategorized

So this is probably why DJ Khaled proposed right to hype up this song? Since the wonderful lady of rap right now Nicki Minaj has a very amazing flow/verse in this song which he proposed to. With the other folks on the song Future & Rick Ross. Future of course had to do the hook. While Rick Ross had to put his too smooth of flow on the song. This is a hit…..simple. Just listen to the song it explains itself.  (Source: InFlexWeTrust.com)

Nicki Minaj Settles Feud With DJ Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 Who “Slayed” Starships

Now we all remember last year during Hot 97’s Summer Jam where Hot 97’s DJ Peter Rosenberg dissed “Starships” by Nicki Minaj. Quiet as it’s kept we all knew he was taking a dig at Nicki Minaj here is what he said “I know there are some chicks in here waiting to sing along with ‘Starships’ later,” he said to the crowd of people. “I’m not talking to y’all now. F— that bulls—. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop s—.” The remarks caused Nicki to pull out of her appearance at Summer Jam which of course some people were not proud about where she was scheduled to be the main event. So what was the next move for the Young Money team after that? LIL WAYNE WENT AHEAD AND PULLED ALL OF YOUNG MONEY OUT!!! On Monday of this week May 27th to be specific Nicki went back to the Hot 97 radio station and somewhat attempted to address the feud with Rosenberg himself. Here is what she said “It’s water under the bridge … I mean it’s so long ago. I can’t even act like I care anymore, but I appreciate you guys having me,” Minaj in an appearance ahead of this year’s Summer Jam. “In hindsight … I should’ve just did the show.” Even though Ms. Minaj has some regrets about pulling out for Summer Jam 2012, it did seem that Nicki was not completely settled her little feud with Rosenberg. “I never found you funny,”Nicki said to Rosenberg. “I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying. To me, you don’t have enough of a resume to make those comments.” Rosenberg gets some credit he did try to bury the hatchet speaking on how “Startships” played at his wedding and saying that he thought she could become the “greatest female MC.” Nicki just hit him with that good o’l….SILENCE!!! The feud did get hotter last year reason being Nicki called in Funkmaster Flex’s radio station to explain why she pulled out just so she could verify some things. Rosenberg came back saying “I need it be clear: I gave an opinion on a song,” the Hot 97 DJ said. “And Nicki Minaj and [her label] Young Money decided to skip Summer Jam. Because of an opinion, not a personal attack, nothing derogatory because she’s a woman.” “That’s why music is so mediocre nowadays, because no one can give opinions. If you give an opinion, cats hate you, their crew skips your concert, they dis you on twitter, their boyfriends threaten to punch you in the face,” Rosenberg said. referencing Nicki’s boyfriend, Safaree “SB” Samuels, who tweeted a profanity-laden threat.  (Source: inquisitr.com)

Now to me let it be water under the bridge it might as well be if not just let it go. IT WAS LAST YEAR!!! It obviously didn’t stop Nicki from becoming a bigger star this she is now. Rosenberg knew he was somewhat wrong and he kind of admitted it. To me he needs to apologize if he wants it over and done with. Nicki just needs to keep it moving even though she may not want to. He is a DJ you are an artist no need to go back and forth with him your music and features will still be played. Am I wrong?

MET Gala 2013 Fashions Bless Em

Uncategorized

I’m a tad bit late but I just got to see all of the wonderful and just plain hideous outfits of the MET Gala this year and now time for me to speak on it. Of course all credit goes to the photographer of these photos because if I were to be at MET Gala you best believe I would be walking that red carpet in front of paparazzi. (To make sure you know) Now lets jump into the outfits I actually care to comment on:

Image Now y’all no I mean no harm little o’l Kim K but now listen she know that was way too much print. But I swore up and down my grandmother had that somewhere in her home I think it was either her curtains or her couch one of them them two. She probably did that print because that bump she has oh ya that baby bump. Plus Kanye was there…they had to show out.

Image

So I’m looking at this pictures and all I saw was skin so I wanted some hot sauce to be put on that thigh I see. Then I realized it was just Beyonce with a wonderful gown on that so happen to look like the breading at KFC. Jay Z must have bitten off some the dress/breading that is why that thigh is out. But overall Beyonce looked very nice I just want her to change up her hair once in a while…PLEASE!!!

Image

Then this wonderful goddess appeared across my screen….*Eyes get big* Nicki Minaj to me looked like she came straight out of a Disney as a evil witch with that hair and dress of hers but that is still my lover. Overall she did her little thing and looked real good the hair now I’m loving.

ImageLawd bless Madonna…..Old but still kicking.

The MET Gala 2013 this year was pretty nice but nothing too amazing. I enjoyed the fashions….and the laughs I got from it.
