Now….now Love & Hip Hop and Basketball Wives is all “funny” and “cute” exploiting black women and making them look crazy over the most petty things….BUT ONCE YOU COME FOR THE SORORITIES OF THE DIVINE NINE THAT’S WHEN TRAVIS HAS AN ISSUE!!! Coming from parents who involve themselves with their respected fraternity and sorority it almost offended to me even though I’m non-Greek. Some things need to be kept behind cameras….SIMPLY!!! For example VH1 has put out another reality show called “Sorority Sisters” which has been protested and petition against since the idea even came out months ago when Mona Scott Young was over it but that’s none of my business even though it’s rumored she’s not anymore. From the name you can tell that the show is about women
part of historically black sororities such as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, and finally Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated. Within the show the ladies “sorors” live their personal/social lives as slightly hood rich women looking for a quick check by casting dirt onto their respected organization. The show bio simply states “Sorority Sisters follows the lives of “sorors” from four different Atlanta sororities.” Y’all I mean no harm but when you start to watch the trailer and my mother and I did watch it together multiple times it almost looks fake along with the girls also and it coins the thought of “Are these women even real members?” “How would you know what organization they’re part of?” Due to legal trouble coming from the Divine 9 we’ll probably never know and the Divine 9 went in as deep as when one of the cast members Priyanka was yelling across the room at another cast member the word “Delta” came out of her mouth but it fell on silent ears due to the…BLEEPING OF THE WORD!!! So we low-key know the truth about this show and that the legal trouble will probably be too much for VH1 to handle for another season even for another episode. It comes on tonight at 9PM EST on VH1. I’ll be updating this post on my thoughts of the ladies and overall show but here is the trailer….
EVERYTHING UNDER THIS LINE IS WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE FIRST TWO EPISODES OF VH1’S ‘SORORITY SISTERS’!!!
From watching the first two episodes a sense of a huge set up I don’t care what anyone says. What do I mean by that exactly? Everything to me seems very scripted especially from the first episode from the random OOO-PPPP (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated sound) to the random words in every sentence being a sorority being named “Not everyone can be a lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated” to random shots being made at other respected sororities. All for what? Extra dollars in someone’s pockets? I just give my opinion on things so I guess I’m just as bad. Right? Wrong. To the second episode where the token of the group Shanna who is Caucasian (white) and is part of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated who is almost quite sensitive about being within a African-American sorority. Once again the token of the group within a black show which is nothing new. (*cough cough* Hazel-E of Love & Hip Hop). The drama is this….Adrene (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated) who’s the owner of House of Adrene boutique within Atlanta is beefing with April (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated) who owns House of Couture boutique located in Buckhead. Real “interesting” and “new” an AKA and Delta “beefing”…….NEXT!!!! Priyanka who’s former Miss ASU (Alabama State University) that dances burlesque and is in hopes of starting her own shoe line for larger feet women. Priyanka is beefing with a fellow soror Adrene over what Priyanka likes to say “loyalty” and “sisterhood” saying that Adrene isn’t sticking to what she signed up for along with Priyanka saying Adrene was not really part of the organization. That’s pretty much it with the mainstream beef other than that there is not too much to pay attention to other than shade throwing and petty arguments. The usual. Other than that the show isn’t really entertaining even though I don’t agree with it. I will probably still watch it though when there is absolutely nothing to do while I am in my college dorm. Oh…there is other ladies in the show but they do not play a specific part in the show other than saying the name of the sorority they are a part of. Another thing the rumor of the show being canceled due to pull outs or whatever is false with the 1.3 million viewers and was the #1 show for women within the ages of 18-49 in the time slot it looks like it’s not going anywhere…Sadly.
In a statement sent to the Washington Post, VH1 stated:
There are currently no plans to change the series and it seems to be connecting with its audience….Due to the confidential nature of our agreements with our advertising partners, we never speak to specifics about clients and their media plans…But we do enjoy successful, long-term partnerships with our advertisers and are happy to honor any requests to move spots to other parts of our schedule.
I SPOKE ON IT!!!
